Taking care of kids is a tough job!  As a stay-at-home mom and someone who has spent her professional career working in childcare and education, I can absolutely relate to the pitfalls of parenting and caring for kids! I want my host families to have the best childcare possible, and I want my au pairs to gain valuable experience and do the best job they can, so with that in mind, each week I will post and email out a different topic for au pairs to read to help them to go “above and beyond” in their day-to-day duties; I know as a parent of a toddler deep into the “Terrible Twos,” I’m always looking for some new tricks too, so maybe this information will be useful to the host parents out there too.

These topics could also be great things to discuss during your weekly meetings, especially if there are any power struggles or difficulties occurring.  Host parents and au pairs should work together to find solutions to any issues that might arise between the au pair and his/her relationship with the children!
